    • COURSE EXEMPTION

The student fills out the Course Exemption form, signs it, and sends it to the secretariat. The Coordination analyzes and approves or denies it. The secretariat records the exemption if approved and informs the student.

Teaching Internship and Directed Studies are not eligible for exemption.

NOTE: in the transcript, the exempted courses will not display grades and/or credits in detail, but they are counted toward the total completed workload.


    • STUDY PLAN

The student fills out the document in agreement with the advisor. The advisor sends it to the secretariat, copying the coordination, by the end of the first academic month of the program. Advisor, student, and coordinator sign the record in SEI.

NOTE: If there is any change to this study plan, it must be updated and re-approved.


    • TEACHING INTERNSHIP

Before: the student fills out the document in agreement with the course professor and the advisor. The student sends it to the secretariat. Student, course professor, and advisor sign the record in SEI.

After: the student fills out the document and sends it to the course professor, who assigns the grade and sends it to the advisor. The advisor forwards it to the secretariat. Student, course professor, and advisor sign the record.


    • DIRECTED STUDIES

The student and advisor fill out the document. The advisor assigns the grade and sends it to the secretariat. The advisor signs the record.


    • DEADLINE EXTENSION REQUEST

The student sends the completed form to the secretariat, copying the advisor. The coordinating committee analyzes and approves it. The secretariat informs the student of the decision. Student, advisor, and coordinator sign the record.


    • ACADEMIC EVENT ATTENDANCE CONTROL

The student keeps track by continuously filling in the spreadsheet below. After 10 hours of seminars/events, the student sends it to the secretariat for verification and approval. Proof of participation MUST be attached (attendance lists for internal events, such as defenses, and participation certificates for other events). The secretariat compares the data and records it in the transcript.



    • SOD REQUEST

All students who have already completed the required course credits or will not be enrolled in courses during that specific semester must fill out the SOD Request Form (No Course Offering) in order to maintain enrollment in the program and not be classified as having abandoned it.


    • Production Validation

PRODUCTION FOR DEFENSE: The student sends the complete work along with proof of publication to the secretariat. The coordinating committee evaluates and approves it. The secretariat informs the student and advisor of the decision and, if approved, records it in the transcript (under “observations”).

PRODUCTION VALIDATED AS CREDITS: According to the regulations, this only applies if the publication occurred during the master’s/PhD period, and if the student is the FIRST author.

The student sends the published article or record and the form below to the secretariat. The coordinating committee evaluates and approves it. The secretariat informs the student and advisor of the decision and, if approved, records it in the transcript (under “observations”).


    • ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Student sends proof of approval to the secretariat.

      • Minimum TOEFL-ITP score of 337 points (according to circular memorandum 04/2015, from June 3, 2015).
      • English proficiency exams taken at any Federal University will be valid, as decided in the PPEng Council Meeting from 04/04/2017, Minutes 06/2017.
